formed from the ashes of Cornwall based rock covers band Intense Temple Pounding (featuring Paul Thomas on guitar, Ben Harris on bass and Dave Kent on drums, as well as Riggy Harvey on vocals), Paul, Ben and Dave formed Baby Astrolab with the addition of Duncan Jewitt on vocals in November 1999.

Quickly writing are recording their first demo the Luna Leap E.P. was released in December, which saw the band split over the direction the band was due to take (the age old covers/originals debate), the band reconvened in late January 2000 minus Paul Thomas who had left the band to start, another rock covers band, Skullmonkey (one of the names thrown around during the naming of Baby Astrolab) with, the singer from Intense Temple Pounding, Ritchie Harvey. Bob Rock joined the band with Ben and Duncan both taking over guitar responsibilities...
