Fresh from their own headline tour, the post hardcore quintet are set to return to Cornwall to play the first night of the Fosters Beach Bar Sessions. The band were last in the county in November 2004 and are as excited about playing Fistral beach as we are to have booked them! www.myspace.com/hundredreasons They will be supported by the one and only post punk laptop rapper MC Lars in his first trip to the county. From Brooklyn NYC and best known for his one man and a laptop show MC Lars blends his own brand of hip hop and rock singing songs about the perils of internet dating, punk rock and even Moby Dick with samples ranging from ‘Iggy Pop’ to Supergrass. A rare treat in the South west not to be missed. Dave House will be the opener for this Monday night spectacular, the angst ridden singer songwriter who also plays in a hardcore punk rock band has recently produced a split EP with Get Cape Wear Cape Fly (appearing at Unleashed) Tuesday…(Punk) Tickets £7 or £25 for 4 nights Capdown take poll position. The Ska-core collective from Milton Keynes are veterans of the UK scene, mixing up ska, punk, hardcore and reggae in a way that only they know how! Favourites of Radio 1's Mike Davies and you can hear them regularly on the Lock Up show. Extensive touring over the years has built them a solid fan base across the country receiving praise from everyone from Kerrang! to the Times. They are currently recording their third album - check out their sounds on www.myspace.com/capdown Supporting on this night of punk rock will be Watfords own Captain Everything. In their 6 years as a band the might Captain Everything have played in excess of a whopping 600 shows and are coming to Newquay as part of a mammoth UK tour. The thrashy power pop punk band love to play mighty fast and sing about themselves! Current local heroes Call-To-Arms will be opening the show. Currently causing a storm and gaining fans wherever they go this will be the bands biggest show to date and are one of only a handful of local bands chosen to play at this years festival. Wed – (Ninja Tune) Brighton’s Fink makes his first trip to Newquay for Wednesday’s session. This chilled out bues acoustic rising star who cites his influences as Joni Mitchell, John Lee Hokker and Jose Gonzales has recently toured with Zero 7. His latest album ‘Bisctuits for Breakfast’ and first release on Ninja takes the listener on a journey through a chilled out atmospheric bluesy journey through the 35 minute long player. Like a twenty-first century John Martyn, Fink's insistent songs are flushed with bruised basslines and skinny blues licks. And they're exceptional. Newton Faulkner who supported Donavon Frankenreiter on his recent Truro show will be accompanying Fink on this chilled out night of acoustic blues. Thursday (Surf Roots Reggae) Tickets £8 or £25 for 4 nights Aussie faves The Beautiful Girls return to Newquay to head up the 4th and final beach bar session for 2006. The band (which includes Radio 1's Zane Lowe) have just released their debut album The Sound Inside in the UK to much acclaim and with their single The Otherside getting massive support from Radio 1 they are on the fast track to becoming everyone's sound of the summer. www.myspace.com/breakscoop Newquay’s very own Tom Mounsey will be the local opener for this Thursday night bringing his Blues on the Brain to add to our most chilled out evening at the Beach Bar. -ENDS- Tickets for Beach Sessions and Unleashed are on sale from Ticket Web www.ticketweb.co.uk (search for “Rip Curl”) and through the Rip Curl Boardmasters www.ripcurlboardmasters.com
